I have just received my quiz back and was astonished to see that where I had put 13 Stripes on the American Flag, it had been altered to 13 Stars,
To the setter Mrs, K. Valentine - google the American Flag - you will see there are 13 STRIPES for the original number of states and a block of 50 STARS for each state now.
Also no information was given about who won or how many got correct answer sheets, probably no-one if this is how it was marked.

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.ive just got my food for thought one back and had got two wrong one of which i do query, all the answers are food related and answer is a place or christian name, well maybe im just being thick but ive never heard of a place or a persons name called cranberry. (id put cambridge sauce & answer was cranberry sauce) maybe someone can put me right...
It's not only Rhodes Minnis - the recent Hearing Dogs quiz had a simile where many answers fitted but only the one they had in mind was marked as correct. They didn't state on the answer sheet but apparently they allowed multiple answers and as long as their 'correct' one was included, you were okay. Never heard of a quiz where you can submit loads of answers to a question in the hope that one 'will fit'.
It was a very poor quiz anyway. Ditloids have been around for years and yet it had such easy basic ones as 52 weeks in a year and 60 seconds in a minute. You had the feeling it was just taken en masse from a site, possibly American as there were a lot of ditloids to do with America, including 200 dollars for passing Go in Monopoly, and nobody bothered to check that the answers given were correct.
Ditto-got cranberry sauce wrong, but since found place called cranberry -also had chantilly sauceor cambridge as questions didn't stipulate places had to be in Britain. Also came unstuck with 13 stripes-most annoying.Am going off doing quizzes very rapidly when treated like this! time the setters could accept suitable alternative answers, not just the ones they think are correct, especially when their answer is blatantly wrong. That question should be null & void.
Didnt do this quiz but surely the setter should have an obligation to publicise who the winner is. Maybe there should be some system in place on here to ensure this. I always announce the winner on here and also send details back with every marked sheet. Of course you still have to have some trust that the money actually goes where it is supposed to but cant see a way round that.
Marking can be tricky though I always allow one answer and usually the only one I have even if others fit or it gets so complicated.
Perhaps the setter will respond on here once he/she has seen the comments. I think I would with maybe an apology.....

The idea of me posting on here was to reach the setter and get some answers from her. Where there is a definitive answer as in the ditloid I quoted, she seems to have marked the same answer right sometimes and wrong others.
In the Hearing Dogs Quiz when a simile was asked for and the number of letters given, there were many possible answers and to say that one's right and that one's wrong, is just not logical.
