There is a clasical tune that people hum / whistle when somebody is feeling sorry for themselves. Anybody know what it is please? Normally associated with violins!

Yes, I think I know the one you mean, I believe it was played a great deal during the silent film era in moments of tension, sadness etc. Does it actually have a name or is it just one of those pieces that has been around for generations?

I think thats the one. Anybody any ideas?
Hearts and Flowers, composed by Theodore Moses Tobani. He was an accomplished violinist, playing concerts at the age of 10, so it's quite fitting that his best (only?) remembered piece is associated with violins.
