Dodgy eyes

When i look at some thing bright-ish like the sky, why can i see little transparent lines that seem to be on the suface of my eye (assuming there not aliens). They are not visible normally.

They're called "Floaters" dead cells floating in the cornea (or something). Comes with age, harmless but annoying.

Dont panic your eyes will filter the dead cells out soon enought but they will be replaced with new ones its a constant process.

Yea, my great grandmother used to call them floaters - didn't know it was the correct name for them.  If you just rub your eye gently they'll go - but as delapeyre64 says you'll get them again. Absolutely nothing to worry about though..... well, unless they ARE aliens .....

They're called floaters - as everyone else has said - bits of dead tissue floating about in the vitreous humour in the large chamber in the eye. They're generally not significant, unless you've suddenly noticed a massive one, or if they're accompanied by little flashes of light. In this case it could be a small tear in the retina (the lining of the inside of the eye, where all the light receiving cells are located) which may need repair.

Also if you're concerned about any changes in your eyes or with your eyesight, visit your local optometrist and they'll either reassure you that there's nothing wrong or refer you for further checks as necessary - we're not just there to try and flog you specs you know.....!
