For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.They're called floaters - as everyone else has said - bits of dead tissue floating about in the vitreous humour in the large chamber in the eye. They're generally not significant, unless you've suddenly noticed a massive one, or if they're accompanied by little flashes of light. In this case it could be a small tear in the retina (the lining of the inside of the eye, where all the light receiving cells are located) which may need repair.
This question has come up a few times - if you search for it you'll find links to sites with a more detailed explanation.
Also if you're concerned about any changes in your eyes or with your eyesight, visit your local optometrist and they'll either reassure you that there's nothing wrong or refer you for further checks as necessary - we're not just there to try and flog you specs you know.....!
