Sound not Working

Hey there. I am having problems with sound on a laptop I reinstalled windows xp on. Sound was working before and now it is not working. What do I need to install. I tried some drivers from internet and still did not work. Any ideas out there for how to fix this. Thanks

Did you try setting or adjusting it from control panel?

Yes i did try that but its not that. The driver I tried does not work. I tried downloading from gateway which is the laptop make. It a gateway model number MX6025. Any ideas how to make the sound work
if all else fails, download and run "aida32" (you can get it here http://www.sofotex.com/AIDA32-download_L9326.h tml

this will identify your system components, you can then download the drivers from the sound device manufacturer.
