What would happen in this case. I have to go to crown court for sentencing for fraud around �25,000. What would happen if I leave the UK and go and life in a european country? I'm not British

We have extradition agreements with European countries - you'd be hauled back.

But take a chance and go.

You are likely to be sentenced in your absence and you will imagine the judge will not be inclined to find much mitigation.

Next a European arrest warrant will be issued and you will be brought back to serve your sentence.

Either you will be swiftly arrested or you will spend a long time looking over your shoulder - unable to claim benefits or medical care.

Go and face the music at Court - it may not be as bad as you fear.
