Is it possible to work whilst waiting to be interviewed for your national insurance number?

if you're not from the UK you need to check out your entry conditions before you do any work.

My girlfriend is from lithuania so she shouldnt have a problem with the entry requirements. We just want to know if she can start looking for a job straightaway or must wait to be assigned a number.

not sure if its still the same but it used to be..... she needs to speak to hmrc and request ni no
she will be issued with a temp ni no where shhe will be able to work for 16 hrs per week. she needs proof of this to take to an employer.
