There is no single cause for a miscarriage, but the common factor is the 'rejection' of the foetus by the woman's body. it is this 'rejection' that causes morning sickness in the early, and sometimes latter, stages of pregnancy. Obviously other factors can be included - stress, violent impact, and so on.

It is impossible to pinpoint a cause of miscarriage, but when it happens it has happened for a reason. 

I am Rhesus Negative blood group, which could be one cause of miscarriage for a second pregnancy - this does not affect the first pregnancy though as the first triggers the mechanism for the second encountering a fight between the baby's and your blood. If caught in time this is treated via injection to stop it happening.

I have also had polycystic ovaries which is another cause.  Fibroids which is similar is another cause.

I am a big believer that it is for the best when  miscarriage happens, especially mother nature and all that (no I am not religious at all), but after experiencing miscarriage myself I can at least give you a couple of reasons as to why.

Although I have a 9 year old son and fell pregnant just six weeks after trying for him, I had a miscarriage 3 years later at just 6 weeks - I believe because I was not given the Anti-D injection in time.  After no luck and 2 years later I found out I had polycystic ovaries and had an operation to correct this. Two years down the line and after the IVF route, I still haven't become pregnant.  I am now 36 years old and am not giving up yet. 

There are just too many reasons as to why?  I suggest you read up, there are lots of books to help you with your answers.  Hope this helps, Sarah xxx

The most common  reason given (about 90% of cases) is  a genetic  mis-match. At least this is what they tell you when they can't find another reason.
