Check in @ Airport job!!

Im looking into vacancies at my local airport for check-in staff. Has anyone worked at the check-in or knows anyone who does, if so, did they enjoy it or did they detest it!

Have fancied working at the airport for a number of years now and finally going to make the move!
Had a look on Servisair website and the airport website but could anyone advise me on where else to look?

I joined a well known airline as a checkin agent as a way into the industry- i'm now a senior manager at head office. Its a great way to get in and learn the business.

Yes, it is hard work, you will have to work shifts a horrible hours in the mornings, and wont get weekends of all the time- so it can affect your social life if all your friends do Mon-fri 9-5.
You have to enjoy dealing with people, and solving their problems in stressful circumstances, and not take it personally if they are rude.

But would i recommend it? If you can deal with the above, then yes! There is a special buzz working at an airport, and its great working with so many people.
If you can, get a job with an airline rather than a handling agent, as the airlines tend to pay better, and almost ore importantly, you get discounted travel after you've been there a while. So he bigger the airline, the more places you can go!

So, if you are interested, id look on the websites of any airlines that operate from your nearest airport- they usually have recruitment pages.
If you apply, emphasise your ability to work under pressure, how you dealing with difficult people, in difficult situations, think of some examples of when you havve given good service, and just be really nice and approachable!
