In-car iPod

Last year I bought an in-car iPod socket for my husband.I admit I did not pay a great amount for it,but it all went very well for a time.However,lately he has been getting a lot ofi nterference and it is making it impossible to listen to.Can anybody tell me what is causing this and if I were to buy another one,not too expensive,if it would be better.
