I want to get something engraved for my brother & his wife to be.
Does it matter what way round their names go?
Should it be female first. Or my brother, because he's my brother?
Hope someone understands...

I always assumed you put the man's name first, regardless of what relationship they are, think it's something to do with the antiquanted belief that men go first.
I would go by the order that they are put in the most by you and others, it will seem right then
Hi has - Gut instinct, your brothers name first xxx

Thanks Chaps. Much appreciated.
Unless it's connected with the Wedding - if it is, her name goes first.

Sometimes names of partners work better phonetically one way or the other. So as Cazz said, whichever way round you refer to them most would seem the most sensible approach.
Boo I don't really want to contradict you, but men don't go first,

They sometimes come first,
