I bought an unsliced tiger loaf and it didn't get used.
I need some ideas on how to either revive it or to use it up (no breadcrumbs though) it's quite a large loaf.
Thanks in advance

When we have slightly stale bread, we use the slices for toasties and cheese on toast?

I make a savoury *bread based quiche* from slices of bread....

Grease a large, flattish baking dish and place thick slices of the bread over the base (cut triangles etc to fill in the gaps). Fill the centre of the dish with cubes of the bread, especially good if you make sure the crusts are at the top of the *pile*.

Grate about 6-8 ounces of strong/mature cheddar. Beat up 2 large eggs (I use free range) eggs and about a quarter pint of milk and mix in the grated cheese. Pour this over the bread, allow to soak into the bread for at least 10 minutes, sprinkle some cayenne pepper (if liked) over the top. Don't worry if some cubes of bread are not in the egg/cheese mix, so long as they've had some egg/cheese added, they will puff up and form a lovely crusty top. Bake in a pre-heated oven, Gas 6, 200 deg C for about half an hour until golden brown.

It's basically a savoury bread & butter pudding with the cheese replacing the butter and fruit.
Just to add to Juggerlings answer. When making a savoury bread and butter, I spread wholegrain mustard on the bread.
If it's not more than a couple of days old, I sprinkle the loaf with water and put it into a medium hot oven for about ten minutes, when it cools it's fine again, but you do need to eat it right away, as it doesn't stay fresh for more than a few hours............worth a try!.................welsh
Ohhh Ruby,,, I just bought a jar of wholegrain mustard too ..... first find some *stale* bread... nah...just let a perfectly decent crusty loaf go stale - a good excuse to make a savoury B&B pudding... lol

Thanks jug, that sounds nice - come & help me finish off the loaf, don't forget to bring the mustard with you!
slice it up and spread each slice with garlic butter then freeze the slices. next time you need garlic bread take out however many slices you need and give them 5 or so minutes in a hot oven.
