long running character?

On friday whilst watching ancient holby city on uk gold a character called maggie was diagnosed with breast cancer. This woman was the same actress as the woman who recentley died (of breast cancer) in up to date holby (trishas' mate). Can anyone tell me if this was the same character sadly loosing her fight or just a massive coincidence that the same actress played two people with the same name who both had breast cancer? Please!

its the same character - from what I saw of it, she became trish's mate because she was a patient and was diagnosed just when trish found her lump which is why they got friends - I think!

Yep, same character - played incidentally by Samantha Beckinsdale half sister  of Kate.
