I have watched "The Ring" recently and after all those comments from friends and family they said its a scary creepy film. I do not know how it is scary to most people.
If u have watched this particular movie please. please. tell me what bits a scary to you. I doubt any bits are scary besides shocky scenes, Quite frankly im suprised it hasnt got to me ........ In my opinion i think a movie such as chucky is more creepier than this movie,

Thanks for answering. I appreciate it if anyone has comments on the movie.

I rate "The Ring" 10/10 for story

3/10 for horror

I think the only bit that was creepy was the bit the girl crawled out the tv at the end, but for a creepier film, go for either The Grudge, which is out to rent in the UK now, or if you can get a hold of the Japanese version of Dark water, both very creepy.

The Grudge .........please tell me more

the ring 10/10 for story ?!!!!

and chuckie being creepy ? crappy more like !

Are you talking about the remake of The Ring or the original Japanese version.I have seen the original Japanese version & by the end credits i was still waiting to be scared. This movie has to be so overhyped & it's overhyped for all the wrong reasons.Don't get me wrong i love a good horror but this wasn't it.Even the scene regarding the girl crawling out of the tv i didn't find scary.
I thought both the Japanese and the US versions of "The Ring" were over-rated. Out of the two, I preferred the Hollywood version.
I thought the Japanese version was better than the American.  I didn't find it scary but it does play on your thoughts and imagination.  In the Japanese version you had to show it to someone else to rid the curse off you; what a dilema!
Well I found the Ring very scary and especially the crawling out of the TV bit. But to put my idea of scary into perspective, I was terrifed by the Exorsist and even more embarasing to admit, I found the Spoof of the Exorsist, Reposesed scary too. (I'm 28)
What! I'm 27
I didn't think much of the Ring either, I agree the bit where she crawled out of the t.v. was a bit scary, but that was it. I thought Jeepers Creepers was a good film for the scare factor.

Whats the japanese version like ? i mean i know its in japanese but is it any beter?

I love a good horror film and one of the scariest I have ever seen was the Ring. I don't know why but something about it just got to me and i slept with the light on for about a week! I watched the original japanese version sometime after but didn't find it as scary as i already knew the story (the japanese version does explain more).

If you want to see another scary film in the same style as the ring and the grudge you must watch the korean film 'a tale of two sisters', its out on dvd now and it really scared me.

The bit that scared the living Bejesus out of me was when they found the girl in the cupboard with that look of abject horror on her face!  I'm easily scared by things that involve faces, I'm afraid (hell, even the twisted mush at the beginning of the X Files has me diving behind the sofa!)

I think they're going for the 'horror that could come true' angle with this one.  It made me wary of my TV for a good couple of hours ;) It's the whole 'crossing over into reality' thing that makes it scary.

That said, if 'The Ring' had that effect on me, I dread to think what 'White Noise' is gonna do...!

Silencium, white noise did have a few jumpy moments  but it was nowhere near as scary as the ring.

As for you being wary of your t.v, I watched the ring on video at a friends house and she actually got up in the middle of the night to lock the video tape in her car so that the girl couldn't come out of her tv!

I thought it was a bit boring to be honest.  I fell asleep during the Japanese version.

The Grudge however.  That had me giggling like a child, it's well scary! I loved it.  My friend couldn't sleep for days afterwards.

It's consistently scary for 2 hours! it's brilliant!
