Monitor Problem
3 Answers
My daughters monitor is playing up, every so often the entire screen (including desktop) seems to shrink to the bottom of the monitor screen. Its not all squished at the bottom, more like a roof shape, if that makes sense. Wiggling her mouse usually makes it come back normal but it keeps happening again and again. Does anyone know how to sort this out?
Thanks :)
Thanks :)

I can't see it - but have you disabled / changed the screensaver?
three more things it could be
loose graphics card
(proving the card itself isn't easy without another card)
loose connecting cable - just waggle it about
loose innards inside the monitor.
the first two you can check without much trouble.
you should also update the card's drivers
(unlikely to be the cause ... but still a good idea)
if it looks like the monitor
is this one of those telly type CRT monitors ... or one of those new fangled LCD jobbies? (it sounds like a crt)
if it's crt ... it's probably time to start thinking about a new LCD
if it's LCD .... it's probably time to start thinking about a new LCD (how old?)
CRTs rely on magnets to bend a single electron beam ... and if the controller is iffy ... the shrinking screen is quite a common problem (be extremely careful if you decide to "have a go" 'cause there are some BIG voltages in there ... and they do bite and kick - I'd advise against it)
if it's a LCD ... I've never seen this particular fault .... but it's possible - again not much you could do with a screwdriver
if I'm overlooking anything obvious one of the others will pick it up - the mouse wiggle is throwing me ....
unless it's just the movement

Hi AC and thanks for that. She hasn't mentioned any popups and Im not sure if she has changed her screensaver. It's an old CRT one thats years old so I guess you are right thats it time to think about getting a new one. She mentioned earlier she may just buy a LCD one because its driving her nuts lol
Hi rojash, I'll ask her about that, thanks :)
