renault megane engine cut-out

1966 megane 1.6 auto has intermittant fault with engine becoming "lumpy" then cutting out when the car stops. Re-starts after a few minutes then it might cut out again or run OK. Could it be a coil (there are 2 and one was changed last year due to similar symptoms Thanks Bob

My 1998 megane coupe 1.6 is doing this too. The problem tends to come back just after a service. Usually the engine cuts out when it's cold and I'm slowing down coming towards a junction. Any ideas? My mechanic can't find anything wrong.

I had the exact same problem with my 1998 megane coupe, the renault dealer couldn't resolve the problem. My local garage however spent 2 hours searching through all the pipes leading from the engine and found one had a small hole causing air to get in. He fixed it for �30.
