Lump when swallowing

I am sure this is part of my GERD but has anyone else a horrible feeling of a lump in the throat when you swallow? Is there anything you can do about this? I find it improves when asleep (obviously) and when I first wake up, and gradually gets worse throughout the day. It feels like a marble is in my throat, but I can only feel it when I swallow.
I'm not taking any PPIs at the moment as I seem to have very little problem with acid, weirdly. My voice is still shot and it takes a lot of effort to speak.
Thanks

This was my presenting symptom before diagnosis of GORD/GERD. I was prescribed Omeprazole for the condition and am happy to say that the problem is now only intermittent.

Hi Daffy,

Did you get any side effects with Omeprazole? I tried it and whilst it helped the acid, I also got dizziness, tension in my temples and throat and headaches. Although, I am now thinking that these are not caused by Omeprazole, but just having reflux.

p.s Daffy, how long ago was that, and do you still have to take the Omeprazole?
I was prescribed the Omeprazole in December last year,I had no side effects whatsoever from them. I only take them now when the "lump" comes back. It definitely isn't a lump as I had my throat examined with a scope whilst under general anaesthetic.I find that I only need to take the tablets for about a week for the feeling of the lump to go away.
i have had a lump in my throat once when i was really stressed out over something- not a physical lump - just a mental lump that wouldnt go away until i calmed down. it felt really real though !!!
