digital camera problem

when I plug my camera into the pc, the USB page no longer appears and I get a message saying that the device is not recognised. I want to put my pictures onto the pc.
Could I have changed a setting? It worked half an hour ago--can anyone suggest what I may have done?

Its not likely a setting. I'm afraid the best advice I can offer is to

a) try a different USB port
b) reboot

I've seen the message when a USB device really *has* broken before, and seen it a few times when a reboot has fixed the problem.

If that didn't fix it.... check the batteries. Mine won't work if the camera batteries are flat, or if............. err..... I forget to switch it on! lol

Thank you both. I have charged camera overnight but no difference. I can try on another pc tomorrow but in the meantime will reboot.

I have just rebooted and the usb options page came up but now I find that the memory card needs formatting which the pc won't do so looking at my instruction booklet ( I assume you imagine I have this at hand!) I discover that I need to remove the write protaction. I follow the instructions and there is no playback memory.
Mnnn I thought. Lets remove the 1 G memory card because the camera has a built in memory------blow me down it tells me that my device is not recognised.
I think I need to find a photo shop but this really defeats the purpose!!

I have been having the same probs with my Pebl like you I tried & tried without success. In the end I rmoved the phone tools prog from my PC Control panel,& then re installed it with the CD Rom supplied with the camera. SUCCESS !!!!. Ron.

You managed to fix a problem with a Creative Pebl MP3 player by uninstalling Motorola Phone tools?

If so, thats a new one!
