Shampoo and shower gel.....

Maybe Im a bit cynical, but I really think the majority of shampoos and shower gels & soaps are basically the same thing. Some are milder than others, but....

My girlfriend thinks Im crazy when I wash my hair (daily) with Timotei and then use the lather to wash my face and neck at the same time. Then I rinse off and use normal shower gel on the rest of me.Just seems to save time when Im late in the morning. (ie every morning)

Opinions please? Am I playing fast and loose with my short-lived young (30 yr old) skin? She reacts to my doing this as if my face is about to fall off.

For that matter, since were here, do we think that Timotei is in fact a much milder shampoo than most and better for that very quick male everyday single use hairwash? I used to use that jonsons baby shampoo until the hairdresser told me its actually much stronger than people think and considerably stronger than Timotei.....??

Cos I think someone like me (who comes from a family of hair-losers) needs to be careful and not use some kind of liquid sandpaper every day. No thin patches yet but.....

Well being a woman, I'm genetically made up to LOVE all sorts of bath soaps and lotions, creams, etc. but overall I do agree with you.  Have you noticed that a lot of companies are now making what they specifically call "hair and body" shampoos?  I like it -- not only are you saving money but time as well.  Oil of Olay is now also making a lotion that you use in the shower so you clean and moisturise at the same time....Tell your girl I'm on your side!!  :)
I agree with Litchick, you can apparently use washing up liquid to the same effect. Don't fancy trying it though, lovely lemony smell that cuts through grease...yuck!
It's just companies trying to increase their profits by suggesting we need more than we do.
What about the "for men" and "for women" shower gels and shampoos? If your a bloke and use the "for women" shampoo, do you grow boobs and have problems parking your car?

It's all basically the same stuff - for example shampoo is simply washing up liquid at a different dilution.

As regards your skin - well genetics will play the majority of the part in that. For sure you can use soaps etc with moisturisers in, use moisturising cream etc but you have to live with what you are born with.

Not smoking, eating a healthy diet, plenty of water can all help.

fly258 - hilarious: laughed till tea came out my nose.
Timotei is not sold in U.S.  coz the fda found some iffy ingredients in it
There are iffy ingredients in most of them anyway. SLS for example is in floor cleaner, shampoo and toothpaste. It cleans a bit too well!
My husband used to get mouth ulcers all the time. We switched to an SLS free toothpaste from Green People, he's not had one since and that was 2 years ago.
