Parking Ticket???

I got a parkign ticket last night. Admittedly it was in a bay but with doubke yellows??? but the sign said restrictions only applied during certain hours - the time i took note of was 6pm cos we arrived at approx. 8.20pm so I thought we would be okay.
The ticket is code 01 and was issued at 22.48? (so after 6pm??)
Im confused if the ticket is purely because I was on double yellows and despite the timings i shouldnt have been there then fair enough ill pay up but what was the point in the sign displaying time - of which we were after that time???
Ironically we left the reception at 22.50!!!!!!!!! gutted.

Double yellow lines mean NO PARKING AT ANY TIME. In some areas, (for example holiday resorts), the �at any time� restriction may apply for only part of the year, although this must be for at least four consecutive months. In these cases a sign, showing the duration of the restriction, will be erected.
If the sign clearly gave the impression that you were permitted to park, I suggest you take a photograph that clearly shows the anomaly and send it to the authority that issued the ticket with a covering letter pleading your case.

...just to clarify the sign said something along the lines of
"no loading between 8am - 6pm" etc etc so taking into consideration it was 8.20pm on a saturday night i thought i might be okay???
I am 7 months pregnant and in actual fact was loading sort of....i was at a wedding reception across the road and picking stuff up? I doubt 'they' will believe me but its true.
Mt father has since said though - double yellows mean double yellows and no parking and like it or not i may be in the wrong despite the signs being confusing. doh!!!

All is now clear.
Double yellow lines mean 'no waiting'. However, loading and unloading IS permitted, provided it is seen to be continuous.
The time plate you saw means that not even loading or unloading is allowed between 8am and 6pm, but no waiting is allowed at any time.
You can try appealing on the grounds you were loading, but they will require proof. There is no special dispensation given to pregnant women, by the way.
But just to clarify, unless you were constantly loading from the time you parked up, you can't claim it is true.

you seem to know what you are talking about - if i can muster the courage to appeal do you happen to know what proof they will need???
