If you have had it a while the fans and air vents may be full of dust stopping the cold air circulating.
Take the case uotside, remove the cover, and GENTLY blow the dust out with a hair drier (turn the heat off and have it on cool)
If any dust is stuck GENTLY prize it off with a pencil (nothing metal) and again blow it out.
Once all the dust is out replace cover and try again.
Make sure there is plenty of room round the PC case and the air can get in and out.

buy a can of of "airduster" from maplins its for this very use and if poss do it outside so most of the dust from the fans and cards just doesn't settle back in the case in fact give it a good blow everywhere inside the comp, more important give the power casing and its fan( back of the case at the top) a good blasting
as everyone else has said. dust and lint.
i used a hoover ( thin nozzle ) and small paint brush.
look behind the cpu fan after you've cleaned it and i bet you will see dust stuck in the fins of the heat sink. that's where the small paint brush comes in. do it ever so gently.
then inspect all the other areas and dust/hoover as required.
gently!
