I think the question is could one eat an animal that has been kept as a pet. When I was a child friends (farmerschildren) were given orphan lambs each season which they kept and raised until it was time to slaughter them. The meat waseaten and they were given the pocket money from the by products of the hides etc. Personally I dont have a problem with eating meat that has been properly slaughtered with hopefully the most humaine method and that I have never seen running round and havent named. That would go for chickens rabbits or anything that I petted and loved.
As for eating monkey not a good idea. There are tribes in Africa especiaaly in the Congo that eat monkey andthis is believed to have aided in the spread of green monkey disease and Ebola. !!!!

brinjal i think this is a matter of concience, ie feeling guilty at killing something, and i guess all meat eaters myself included are guilty of this, it's just that we, i rely on someone else to do the dirty work for me,

If i had to kill some thing to survive i guess i would be in poor shape to do so.
