Diesel wont start

I have a 1996 Cherokee LTD Diesel, Lately it has not been easy to start, when I turn the key it just clicks once, if I keep turning the key it eventually starts, is it solernoid or starter motor etc, it has a new battery.

could be the solenoid OR the starter, check the wiring to the starter, and any body earths near it, if they are loose it could cause problems.
