My OH is watching a prog where they have just cooked a monkey to eat it. It's one of those programmes where they eat anything they've caught while hunting.
Horse -in France -thought the sauce was strong -naw it was the beef -wouldnt recommend it.
Rabbit -until we bought our house in Spain -no danger but we had the best Portugese neighbours and when we turned up after the Mercadona had closed we would eat with them -rabbit -I looked at H and boaked BUT I was hungry and tell ya -even altho I woiudnt buy iy myself -it was a bleeding gorj casserole.
Dris, I've never eaten rabbit, but it seems rabbit is quite popular. I can remember my dad (many, many years ago) enjoying rabbit pie. He's dead now - been dead since 1967, but I can remember, rabbit pie was his favourite dish.
It is or was fairly common for tribes in Africa particularly the Congo to eat monkey. And as you described the just scortch the fur off yuk. If believed that the practice of eating monkey had led to the out break of these diseases that can transfer from animals to humans.. Such as green monkey disease and ebola.
The chinese eat monkey brains. Even more barbaric in the way it is done.
I know about that, Brinjal. My cousin's told me about it. He travels all over the world, and says he's been in a restaurant where they actually served monkey brains, complete with the table with the hole in it.
I did wonder if he was winding me up about this, because he knows I am an animal lover, but he insists he isn't.
