I just managed to log on, so it's not the website which is down. Have you entered your password incorrectly a few times and locked the account?

I don't fancy your chances of getting through to anyone to sort it, though. Their phones must be jammed with irate callers!

The FSCS are hoping to post some more details tomorrow on their website, http://www.fscs.org.uk/consumer/ so hopefully there'll be some indication of a timescale on compensation there.

buildersmate, just stick to the hods. At least one sensible answer, thank you moomintroll. Iceland have just given me a new password and everything is fine.

For what it's worth now, I often failed to log in first time and then realised that I was ignoring the very small print which told you WHICH password they were asking for characters from - memorable name, place or date.

The site is still live, which is handy since claimants can print off their balance page to support compensation claims.
