Is anyone brace enough to dabble where they don't usually go?

I stick to the areas on this site find informative and can help out on, on occassion. Body & Soul, Family, Chatterbank, sometimes animals and nature.
I feel totally out of my depth in the other areas and have been scared by some of the religious q&a. Some people seem so fanatical!
Does anyone else sneak a peak, am I missing out on anything?

I slightly disagree with logic in the assertion that this is a forum to air opinions. I prefer giving factual answers (although not to the exclusion of all opinion) and tend to stick to Topics where fact outweighs opinion, even though crossover may exist to some extent in all.

As Kempie suggests, there are some threads in which opinion is perfectly acceptable, but there are others which are purely factual.
If someone asks, 'What is the capital of Switzerland?", there's not a lot of point in writing: "I think it might be Geneva." That's because, not only is that wrong, but it has no value whatsoever to the questioner. Nor would it have any great value even if it were correct, because the questioner still doesn't know whether it's right or wrong! You've added nothing, in other words.
It is always best to steer away from subjects of which you have no genuine knowledge. Other than that...post away!

I have a gander at other sections but tend to answer within my comfort zone. It's amazing the questions you can actually help with even when you don't think you would be able to.
I do get a bit intimidated by the religous section though, most of the answers are so long and wordy and I feel totally out of my depth. That and by the time you have found a question you feel you;d like to asnwer there are already 15pages of answers and being slightly OCD I feel I have to read every answer before I can post my own, so inevitably give up and return to Family, Food, B&S, Arts and Literature or Media and TV.

I have occasionally ventured into Food & Drink (only cos I can cook - veggie stuff lol - and definitely know how to drink !), into Animals & Nature (cos I am a slave to my two gorgeous girls), How it works (cos I do know one end of a drill from the other) and now and then into Quizzes & Puzzles... but that's only cos I sometimes get the Radio Times and love the crossword therein... I must admit I've never actually opened the door into Adverts, Gaming, Phrases & Sayings, Seasonal or Weather...and I've only just noticed a department called AB Polls !
