Help with my eyes!
Hiya,
im off to a party soon, and am desperate to do the perfect grey smokey eyes. i noramlly wear very litte eye shadow and often its a soft gold colour, which is easy to apply!! i was wondering whether anyone could suggest which eyes shadows would be good for this, if i need a base on my eye lids and what sort of brush is reccomended.
Also, i am used to wearing fake eye lashes (Cheepy ones from superdrug noramlly), but am looking for a new brand that looks more natural and full (like Mandy's from Hollyoaks) can anyone suggest a good brand of eye lashes at a reasonable price?
Thanks very much! x

Definitely buy Eylure eyelashes. Here is a thread I answered on how best to apply them. I use them all the time. :) http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Body-and-Soul/B eauty/Question639503.html
Really, smokey eyes are so easy to do. I'd practice before you are going out, though, just so you can get the hang of it.
When I do them, I use three colours: a neutral creamy colour, a grey and a really dark grey- almost black. Use a normal eyeshadow brush to sweep the creamy colour all the way up to your eyebrow. Then, using the same brush, sweep the grey into the crease and up a bit around the shape of your eyeball (so that you can still see it when your eye is open). Using a slimmer brush, do the same with the darker grey into the very crease of your eye. Use the thicker brush again to blend the colours, so there are no harsh 'stripes.'
Use a black eyeliner along the top of your lashes (before you apply the fake ones). I also use it along the inside of my lower lashes and a dark grey below them.
Good luck!

Should look a bit like this when you're done: http://www.hotbeautyhealth.com/wp-content/uplo ads/2008/05/smokey-eye.jpg
Oh, and remember to keep the rest of your make up, er, 'less is more'- i.e, neutral lips and not too much colour on your cheeks. :)

Thanks you so much, that was a very helpful answer, i am printing it now as we speak!!
can i be cheeky and ask which eye shadows you use & where yo get them from? & when you say a noraml eye shadow bruch for the very dark do you mean one of those little foam ones you normally get with an eye shaodw pallet, or would you recommend an actual brush?
i did see your other answer about fake eye lashes, i noramlly get my boyfriend to stick mine on for me!! whne sticking them with tweezers, do you hold them against your eye before applying with the fingers or the tweezers?
sorry for all the questions!!
thanks xx

You're welcome, bantingm! :)
'Course I don't mind you asking. I use the Bourjois eyeshadows from Boots, but you can get trio palettes that have the colours you need. One like this is perfect: http://www.bourjois.co.uk/eyes/shadow/8
I always throw away those foam pad-thingies that come with the eyeshadows, they're absolutely useless at blending. You'll get a far better result with a brush.
For the cream and grey, I use one similar to this: http://avonshop.co.uk/shop/assets/images/prod/ PROD_1045083.jpg
and for the initial application of the black (before you go back to blending): http://www.makeup.com/store/120/3c_contour_sha dow_brush.jpg
With the false eyelashes, I always use the tweezers to hold them. Hold them by the ends of the actual lashes. When they're on, grip the ends of the lashes and move the tweezers along to make sure they're secure all the way along. I hope I've described that properly. :)

LMAO! Wahey, my first paid job (you did say paid, didn't you?!) :) I'd love to do it, but I think it's quite competitive. Pretty passionate about the ol' war-paint, though. Years and years of practice... I went through a period where I could have been mistaken for a clown. Ahem! :)
I gave my mum a make-up makeover a few months ago- she looks pretty amazing, if I do say so myself, although she's always been beautiful. Tsk!
When is your party? Have you sorted your outfit?
I know what you mean... I currently have a dead-ear from being on hold to BT and I still have to all the banks in a bit for wages... Argh!

im sat behind a desk with a bloke who doesnt speak, just waffles, and not alot else to do!!
its a red carpet party, so im going as Katie Price. im wearing a cheeky black number.
I'v never worn alot of make up, and dont foten ahve the time to do it (god im sounding old before my time, im only 19!!) but love getting dressed up and am very very girlie, so might go for this new approach of being adventerous with my face!! i have freakishly long eye lashes anyway, so normally give 'em a lick of mascara, some eye liner and then some powder and bronzer and rush out the door!!
Party is next saturday in Ascot, so got a bit of time to practice.
got any other make up tips for me?? any brands you love? i normally stick with the same olds, Virgin vie powder foundation, and good old number 7 mascara!!! i cant seem to find a mascara that doesnt clump. i do like Bourjois clubbing max or whatever it is.

Sounds like a fab party! Katie Price, eh? You can go all out and do lips as well, then! ;)
Just let me know if you need anymore advice when you start practicing.
Hmmm, more tips? Well, the best one I have is to invest in some decent make up brushes. They really do make all the difference and last forever if you look after them well. I think I have the link at home for where I got mine.
Also, I never really use any kind of expensive make-up (unless I've been given it free!) and Rimmel are my favourites. At the moment I'm using that No. 7 Extreme Length mascara (y'know, the one where the lady wears heaps of eyeliner in the adverts), but I haven't found it better than Rimmel's Glam'eyes, so I'll go back to that for now.
Aha! One thing I have learnt, though; I have long lower eyelashes and so I usually end up with mascara smudges below my eyes. So, after I've applied my mascara (and let it dry) and sweep some transclucent powder under my eyes. Works brilliantly.
Oh, and Simple make-up wipes are better than any other-you don't have to wipe so hard and pull at your skin to get it off. :)
