my border collie has got a recurring sore bit inbetween her toes. it goes red and pusy. when the vet puts her on antibiotics it clears up but as soon as she stops taking them it comes back. this has been going on for months. the vet said to try a exploritary operation to see if anything is inside causing it. so on tuesday she had the operation and they found nothing. i'm at my wits end as t.o how i can cure her. a friend suggested a poltice. but going on line they only seem to do ones for horses. does anyone know how to make and apply a poltice or any other suggestions, thanks for any replys

My granny and my mother swore by using a bread poultice and it always seemed to work.
They poured boiling water onto slices of bread, applied it to the sore bit and then bandaged it.
They used it on us 10 kids and I vaguely remember my granny using it on her cat when it had some infected sores after it had been fighting.
it can't do anay harm to your dog.

Hi mybutty, just a thought but have you tried Liverine Unction I am a big fan of this product[if vets fail] I have two dogs and three cats and I swear by it.You can buy it from good pet shops or on line its in a blue tin about �3.96 for 35g.Give it a try ,it might ease her irritation and give her some peace.g.

Did the vet say what the next course of action should be?

Make sure anything you put on as a poltice is not in any way poisonous.

I would be more inclined to try and find out what is causing it in the first place - until you remove the cause it will keep coming back whatever you do.

thank you all for your replys. she had a funny turn this morning back legs giving way and dribbling alot took her to the vets he could'nt see why she was dribbling but said it was her arthrits causing her to drop. as for her foot he now thinks it might be caused by her arthritis. her feet are now quite deformed. ( like how hands go in a human) and he thinks her toes are rubbing together and causing the soreness inbetween. did'nt say what the next course of action was. just keep an eye on the foot.

she's ten. and on rimadyl. we rescued her when she was 18 months old

get her on glucosamin chroditon and msm or vet said an adult dose for our gsd she also had a bioflow collar ,i also have got the horse on it he is far less stiff even the blacksmith has noticed
