Considering that they are employed by the BBC and thus effectively we are their bosses, should they be sacked for their disgraceful and shameful behaviour toward Andrew Sachs. Until now I have found JR amusing at times although he can be too much and would prefer his not taking over shows in which he was a guest, whereas RB is to my way of thinking a complete waste of a life without any redeeming qualities whatsoever. I think they should be sacked immediately. Comments please.

OMG. No they shouldnt be sacked! It was funny, they are funny and if i got a answerphone message off russell brand, id laugh my cap off!

I might have done too if I was about 14 years old, immature, not very intelligent and without concern for other people's feelings and sensitivities.
Its hardly the first time these two have been in trouble. Unfortunately this is the sort of stunt they have to get up to in lieu of any obvious talent.
Well I hope all you folk who want JR out of our hair for good will go to the BBC Complaints site and voice your opinions there too, where (hopefully) they will count. We are the licence payers and deserve to be heard.
Unsure if they should be sacked, but they should definitely have a huge pay cut and a ban from tv for a year or something. Think that would work better as someone else said if they get sacked they'll only end up on another channel with a new contract.
They shouldn't have done it.
They got carried away; being the sort of 'comedians' they are.
It was beyond the limits of 'funny' and 'naughty' - but hey, with all the violence death killings going on in the world, it hardly registers on a scale of disasters does it?

Mountain out of a molehill springs to mind. Slap on wrist, but of public slagging & flogging, then forget about it please.
Totally agree with you Salla. The whole joke got totally out of hand - the two of them deserve a slapped wrist. However, as I said before, those responsible for letting this pre-recorded item go out on air are the ones that really do need to worry about their jobs!
BBC Lunchtime news - Ross and Brand have been suspended.
Over reaction or what. Jeremy Beadle used to make a living out of doing something similar to members of the public, no one complained because it is entertainment. That's what this is, entertainment, if you don't find it entertaining turn it off or switch over!

Before anyone has a go at Ross or Brand can you honestly say you have never teased anyone? That's not to say that I expect everyone has called some one to tell them that they slept with their grand daughter.
I believe Shomer that permission has to be gained from the person/persons who have been teased, etc. (regarding Jeremy Beale and You've Been Framed, etc.) The point is that Sachs said he didn't wan't it broadcast and was overridden by the producers.
This is not teasing shomer, if I phoned up and said I'd sha66ed your grand daughter you'd find that funny would you? right oh, what a brainless tw&t you must be. To compound that with public broadcast you'd no doubt find it hilarious, numpty doesn't begin to describe it!
High Loftie my love, I rarely if ever visit this section...BUT.I have no time for JR and had never heard of this Brand chap. They made "off-line" comments to retired actor about his grand-daughter. Recorded off-line the night before, both probably under the influence of alcohol or worse and said things that were irresponsible, lewd and totaly puerile and inappropriate. Who can say that they have never made stupid remars like that in the past, and later regretted them? Certainly not me. They also asked the opinion of a senior BBC vetting person who gave them the green light.
Stupid ..yes...vulgar..yes.....but hardly a sacking situation.
Oooh hello Squad (blushes demurely) ;o)
Yes I agree we've probably all said things we're sorry for, but the point is these two charmless twits did it on radio - a service which we pay for with a licence fee, and are fined heavily if we don't have that said licence.

Frankly I object to paying money for people to be able to behave like this. I object to paying so much damn money that the BBC can apparently pay the egregious Ross 6m a year! And I simply object to Brand altogether, he's about as funny as nuclear fallout!

Why not sack them, they're neither of them useful or necessary. Ross, unless he spends money like water, must have quite enough to live on and Brand might spend some time finding some new material - but no, don't put all the blame on the producer of the show, that's much too easy. He loses his job and the offenders get off without a hitch. BBC seen to do their job with only a 'menial' thrown onto the scrap heap.

Oh and I understand Ross has send Mr. Sachs some flowers to say sorry! Ah, how thoughtful! Pity Mr Sachs is too much of a gentleman to stuff them down his throat really!
Can anyone tell me what they actually did? I haven't seen the news for a few days and have no idea what they said that was so offensive. I do think the pair of them are arrogant, over-privileged ars*s and this was a long time coming for the both of them.
I just think this has got way out of control now. I'm sure Sachs didn't think his daughter was no angel by looking at her and being in a group called **something** *****. I meant, come on!

Ok, it was a tasteless joke but no one would have complained at the amount people have if the media/papers got involved. I'm sure there are other important things to spread across the papers then Ross and Brand.

I can't stand Brand but I actually like Ross.
