�1300 would have bought a smart Dell Intel/desktop/speakers/printer with Windows setup discs.

Today you could buy two far same money but without the setup discs, huge 50gb memory/wifi/CD-DVD/all singing & dancing.

It depends on how you want to measure it.

�Based on CPI/RPI, I calculate it's worth a little over �1500 at today's prices.

�If you'd put in the bank at 5% gross interest pa it would be worth around �1650.

�If you'd put it in Northern Rock shares it would be virtually worthless.
