Ed, why is it that every Tuesday afternoon/evening, the AB web site seems to go t1ts up? It may just be a regional thing for round here, but if I want to use AB on a Tuesday, it's a non-runner. What's going on Ed?

I haven't been on as a 'regular' for a while now but that always happened at midnight everynight.
It happens regularly, I think they reboot SQL on a timer. I would too, it's good to maintain service to the users.
Might be a better idea to reboot or backup at 4.am instead of 4pm then.
I think it's hourly Gromit.
You should never need to reboot SQL and you certainly should not need to do so on a scheduled basis.

Daily would be excessive. Hourly would be very excessive.

Unless it is seriously flawed or configured wrongly.
Absolutely agree Gromit, we have Microsoft SQL servers that have been running for months.

Exceptionally but unsurprisingly I have a Unix (Solaris) server that has a current uptime of nearly 3 years.
