That the excitement of Bonfire Night has disappeared.
I remember when I was a kid it was something we all used to look forward to. Collecting, stealing bungy wood from other areas, making a Guy for a few pence and making some money for fireworks, putting potatoes in the fire, toffee apples and black treacle.
I don't recall any one getting hurt from the fireworks and we used to have a great time with all the neighbours, young and old joining in, and we went to bed smelling of smoke, gun powder and looking forward to next year.
Not disappeared altogether trt. On Sunday, it was my son's birthday, so we had a bonfire birthday party for him, which was fabulous. I made lots of hot dogs and mushy peas, and the children had a great time collecting wood for the bonfire. Family and close friends were there, and everyone squealed with delight at the various arerial displays. Great fun. Roll on next year! : )
