Automated phone calls

Does any body know the telephone number that you can ring and it stops automated telephone calls getting through to your house telling you that you have won something.  We keep having 2 a day and it is driving me insane.

Yes it's TPS, short for Telephone Preference Service & the number is:020 7766 4420.

I took one of the calls, lasted 40 minutes, ended up with a firm offer of a holiday home in Florida, I just had to pay for the flight out there. I voiced strong worries about the fact that MJackson may be at Disney world the same time as me, and the cold caller didn't know what to say, really. Calls kind of dried up after that...

Thanks Smudge and Goldfish - I've been meaning to do this for ages.  I've just registered online with TPS so they should stop. They always seem to call when I'm having my dinner, and it's never even a human being - just some recorded message.
