Nokia 6500 slide

I have a Nokia 6500 slide phone which when setting screen savers/wallpapers and also ring tone/message tones, seems to default back to factory settings on closure of the phone or switch off! Others tell me that they have the same problem. I have tried saving the settings for these changes but the phone still defaults back to factory settings! Any ideas....

Common problem with 6500 slide. Usually your memory card is either wrongly fitted or loose. Consequently any movement of the phone means that files on it are no longer available and the phone resets to defaults for wallpaper etc. Sometimes if your back cover gets squashed it shorts on the memory card/card holder. People sometimes put a little tape over the card holder once the card is inserted to prevent any shorting out on the rear cover..

Mine's exactly the same (along with a long list of other problems).
If it is just new I'd advise you to take it back and get another model as the many problems this phone has are not fixable
