Can't erase a DVD RW!!

I'm trying to erase a DVD RW disk using NERO but it keeps telling me that the current recorder cannot erase CD RW! This is really frustrating as it's a DVD RW that I've got in the DVD recorder drive. Can anyone help me please???

I recently bought a DVD-RW. When I put the disk in the drive it either opens in the standard E drive and on the left of the XP window it gives the erase cd option...or if I format the disk with In-CD it opens an In-Cd window and gives the option to format and erase. I have Nero 6 and dont use it to do these actions., in fact I am not sure it does it anyway. You will guess that I am not very experienced but wanted to try and help you. Good luck.

The error message says it's the drive, not the disc that's the problem. It (the DVD drive) may not have that functionality.

The DVD rewriter I've got is an NEC 3520, but I'm now wondering whether NERO supports this model, as I previously had an LG CD rewriter and had no problem erasing a disc. Anyway thanks for your help people...
