Google web searching

Is there any way that I can make the default Google search 'UK only' rather than 'the web' please?

I think it isn't possible; alternatives are searching again after selecting 'pages from the UK' or try typing 'UK' as part of the search string.

Thanks Kempie, I rather thought that. I have tried to find a way myself.It is just one extra key stroke which I usually forget, there ought to be an option though. Even after ticking the 'UK only' box I still find that some US sites get through. Perhaps they pay to have Google ignore the request. I quite like Google but maybe I should make Altavista my home page as they default to a UK only search.

the only answer i can think of is to use www.google.co.uk instead of the usual US version of google. hope this solves your problem

Oh no there isn't!

google.co.uk doesn't default to UK only.  That's why I had already suggested selecting 'pages from UK'.

And if you download the Google toolbar like I have, you don't get the oprion to select UK or not, it searches the hole lot.

I do know how to spell whole, honest

and using the Google toolbar you can select the Search UK button.

Use the Google UK firefox search engine?

Make a local html page that searches google uk?

save a uk search, name it google, type google in address bar will bring up that search, go from there?

I just did it!

1. open your Google page

2.click the UK option

3. Click search

4.click favourites, then add to favourites as say "Google uk"

5.That should be it really! hope it works for you ;)

Obviously use the "Google uk" from your faves from now on!
