grass needs cutting

the small patch of grass in my back garden needs cutting and looks an eyesore, doesnt usually grow this time of the year. Although I have a trip plug I am too nervous to cut with the Flymo in case I electrocute myself, would it be okay to use an electric strimmer ?
any advise appreciated.

I've often cut the grass at this time of the year, using my electric lawnmower with no worries. Your mower is double insulated and your using an RCD trip and I do not see you having a problem. Just make sure the grass isn't too wet because it may 'clog' up the mower.
No problem with the 'strimmer' plugged in via an RCD plug, just that you will have to rake up all the cuttings afterward.
Grass growth is dependant on air/ground temperature rather than time of year.

many, many tks for a sensible answer, I think I will play safe abd use the strimmer plus the trip.
Reason I am so anxious is because about 7 yrs ago the man next door to my step sister actually electrocuted himself & died whilst cutting the wet grass, but I dont know if he had a RCD or not.

well its not too difficult to keep the wire out of the way, perhaps having it over your shoulder will help, if you ensure your main direction of motion is away from the origin of the wire you can push forwards knowing the wire will not be in your path and then pull the wire backwarks taking up the slack as you go when you come backwards.

Unlike what the gov and all their stupid health and safety rules say if you use your head and are sensible you will be fine if your out for being stupid then don'y moan for getting burnt (or worse)

many tks Thunderchild, I did do it with the strimmer without any harm done, looks a bit uneven but better than before, glad I did as we had a little snow yesterday in Essex, anyway it looks better than before and if I get a bright sunny day [ if !] I will follow your instructions, once again thank you
