Which Java boxes should be ticked?

Looking in Tools >> Internet Options >> Advanced

Windows XP IE ver 6

there is Java (Sun)...use JRE 1.6.0_10 <applet> ticked

then there's Microsoft VM with

Java console enabled not ticked
Java logging enabled not ticked
JIT compiler for virtual machine not ticked

Just that I'm having problems to one particular site, can't post url as it's password controlled. TIA

You don't need the MS stuff. In fact, the MS stuff will become obsolete on December 31st when the MS license expires. (Sun no longer license Java to MS, because MS continuously breached the terms of the license in an attempt to make their own proprietary version of someone else's software - something they have made quite a habit of over the years)
You might want to look at upgrading to IE7, though - or better still, Firefox.

There's an awful lot of web designers out there who are fed up with having to write extra code into their sites just to deal with non-standards compliant browsers like IE6

Thanks for replies rojash.

Managed to sort out website problem by re-installing Java.

Normally use a browser called Avant but that didn't seem to work with web site in question hence the fallback to IE.

Recently been trying Google Chrome which seems to have sorted out some of its earlier teething problems.
