"Dee later believed that there was an Establishment plot against him, as he was openly opposed to the then Prime Minister Harold Wilson. Recently released government files show that he was indeed being monitored by the Secret Service."

I am old enough to remember watching simon Dee on TV in the 1960s.
I remember one live show when he had George Lazenby on (who has just played James Bond after Sean Connery stopped making them).
Simon Dee obviously had a rough "script" planned of what they were going to talk about, but George Lazenby started talking about the assasination of JFK and how Simon Dee should campaign to help solve it.
Simon Dee was totally flummoxed and handled it very badly, showing his lack of TV experience.
Not sure if this was the begining of the end, but I remember being amazed while watching it and how Simon Dee just could not handle it.
