Opening a bonnet

How can i open the bonnet of a 2000 fiat punto, the lever appears to not be working? any ideas?

if the cable needs replaced your in for a nightmare!! the bonnet cable on these runs between the inner wing and the outer wing!! a severe pain in the arse of a job!!! make sure it isnt the handle ive replaced a few of thes ein my time they arent the best, also once you get the bonnet open make sure the catch mechanism isnt sticky and is well greased
