i am going out to new york for a few days before christmas.

i went last year and really enjoyed it, does anyone know any good toy shops where i can get my niece (6) and nephew (4) some gifts, espescially something you are unlikely to get in the UK

thinks its called F.A.O SCHWARZ on 5th Avenue, near Central Park, great shop, sure you will find something in there for them!!

There is the massive Toys R Us store in Times square, but doubt there will be many unique items there that you can't buy in the UK stores.

There's a really nice toy shop in the arcade in Grand Central Station.

FAO Schwartz is the best place to go - it is around 58th and 5th. Cant miss it. Had loads of unique stuff in there and don't let them see the hugest stuffed animals otherwise you will need to buy another seat on the way home!

Schwarz is magical, when I went a few years ago the whole of the basement was for Cindy dolls only, the litle girl in our party just could not believe her eyes !!!
Probably cheaper at Toysrus though.All dept stores will have a toy dept anyway, you will be spoilt for choice.
Have fun, heres a tip, take 2 suitcases with you put one inside the other on your outward journey and if you are travelling with a US airline, its usually 2 bags per person not by weight but by bag , check with the airline before you go.Virgin allowance is generous too.

FAO Schwartz is amazing, im 28 years old and I loved it so you can imagine what a child would think......I was in there just yesterday, its FAB and not too pricey!!!
