do i have to answer ??!?
I am home watching TV, apparently too loud for the upstairs neighbors, and an officer is sent to my door. Do I have to answer even the identifying questions such as my name, phone, etc ... ? I am usually VERY cooperative and respectful in 99.999% of my life but this one night the officer sent was a huge dork and decided he was going to make an issue out of my husband's answer that we listen to their baby cry etc ... can I ask the officer to leave and do I face any problems if I do not answer his questions. I have no record, nor do I want one but this guy was a head case and I do not want to give him the satisfaction ... thanks !

You are committing an offence by not cooperating. Seems a bit over the top. I thought the council has noise abatement officers to deal with this sort of thng. Why not turn down your tv? You cannot stop babies crying.
to the guy that answered - it is the principle of the matter - not over the top. we turn down the tv and I could care less about their baby (I love kids) but the point in questions is not any of those. I would like to hear from someone that is versed in law not just giving an opinion. As I said - I have no record so nothing to hide or fear and simply want to know the legal answer.
