I am flying to scotland on tuesday and need some info. Flybe charge 1 a minute to phone them!!

So. does anyone know if you can take an ipod on the plane, and what are the rules re. mobiles now?

Can you sit anywhere, so long as it is not reserved? ie- I reserved a seat but would rather sit in the middle of the plane.

Does metal jewellery set off the machine?!

Thank yoU! x

seating policy is explained at http://www.flybe.com/flightInfo/1preassign.htm
in their Ts&Cs, flybe state:- "For safety reasons, we may forbid or limit operation aboard the aircraft of electronic equipment, including, but not limited to, cellular telephones, laptop computers, portable recorders, portable radios, CD players, electronic games or transmitting devices, including radio controlled toys and walkie-talkies. Operation of hearing aids and heart pacemakers is permitted." specifics are usually outlined in the Safety Brief on the aircraft.

Jewellry may or may not set off the walk-through scanner. safest policy might be to carry it in your cabin bag.
You can take Ipod's on board, and use them during the flight, but NOT have them on for taxi-ing (moving towards the runway), take off, and landing.
Other than that, they are fine.

I have never yet had my gold earrings, necklace and rings set off the machine, unless there is a high alert, the machine setting is not set to pick them up.
However, If you have a really big bulky metal watch or bracelet, it might do.
Also, if you have any piercings in any "personal" places, you might want to takt them out for the journey. They may not set it off, but if something else makes it beep, they use a hand scanner, which will beep as they move it over you.... so everyone in the Queue will know exactly what you have!! Can be a little embarassing!

You can't have a mobile phone switched on at any time, except in flight mode which some phones have, and even then not during take off and landing.. IPods are OK when the seat belt lights are off.
