There are no budget airlines operating directly to LAX, so (assuming you require a direct flight) you'll have to fly with American Airlines (from Airside 1), United Airlines (from Airside 3) or Delta (from Airside 4).
Taking sample dates of out on Tues 12/05 and back on Thurs 14/05, American quote 131 in each direction. (i.e. 262 total, including all taxes & charges).
United & Delta both charge roughly the same as American, with round-trip fares, for both airlines, starting from $379, including t&c. (= approx 260 at the current exchange rate)
The distance between Orlando and Los Angeles is roughly the same as between London & Jerusalem (i.e. around 2200 miles), with a flight time of around 5 hours, so 260 seems fairly cheap. I doubt that you'll find any lower fares.

Although Chris is, how do you Brits say? Spot on (as usual), may I suggest that you check Southwest Airlines?

Thing is, they don't have a lot of the "hidden" charges found on Delta, American or United. The charges the other carriers use for checked baggage, for example, can add another $25 to $50 to a round trip fare. Additionally, if your travel would be more conveninet in and out of Los Angeles for other than LAX. you'll find Southwest serves Orange County and Burbank airports as well.
It is true they don't have any non-stop flights, but connections are good as you'll see on the link included.
At any rate, welcome to the U.S.!
