move the mouse right to the bottom of the screen, if the mouse pointer turns to a double ended arrow hold down the mouse button and move the mouse upwards slightly.

oh and to switch it off without using the start bar just press the power button briefly.. it will instruct the computer to shut down
Once you have the bar back, right click on the bar and tick lock the task bar

thanks for that , but i know the double ended arrow you mean but its not that . i can drag the page up and down but it wont go down all the way it leaves a gap at the bottom where the start bar should be.
drag what page up and down?

what happens if you press the windows key on the keyboard (to the left of the space bar)
Or try F11

I have the answerbank page on the screen this can moved up and down up and down using double ended arrow, but it wont drag the page that final inch at bottom where the start bar is usually. Pushing the windows button brings up the box that comes after pushing the start button.
