Blu-Ray

I've been given a film on a Blu-Ray disc as a gift.

It's still sealed and before I open it I need to know will it play on my standard DVD player?

I'm guessing it won't and I'd be better swapping it for a normal DVD version of the same title.

Am I right?

Sometimes, but not usually.

Some disks have blu ray on one side, and ordinary on the other. Check the label on the box
