Anyone watch Eurovision: Your country needs you ?
Would like to know what you thought with the acts that were left and whether you think we might win this time with the help of Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Personally, I don't hold out much hope!

found it odd that right at the end, along comes Jade, doesn't have to audition and gets straight through......

unless it's all a fix and its already been decided who the euorvision entry will be.

I saw bits of it and I thought it was strange with Jade coming in at the end. I know having Andrew Lloyd-Webber run the show it would inevitably attract the west end wannabes but all the audtionees who were shown to be any good all seemed to be singing songs from muscials and stage shows! I would think that if anyone can give us a hope in hell it will be ALW, but I think the Eurovision is quite political and I doubt we will do much, if any, better than usual. Myself and my other half can't figure out what would make anyone like our act anyway, as the winners always seem so random - there doesn't seem to be a set formula of pop, or goood harmonies, or good girl / bands, etc. In recent years the winners have been dancing transexuals and scary rock bands, not that there is anything wrong with either, but it is hard to work out what the audience wants to win.

I entirely agree mushroom and natalie. Last year (I think it was) Andy Abrahams represented us and he got nowhere. Thought it was strange the way Jade came on at the end, but if he is going to chose from the list he has, he might be best choosing someone who has sang on stage before as I should imagine the Eurovision is quite daunting.Can't wait to see if ALW can write a song that doesn't belong in a musical.

My bloke reckons Jade's a plant - and he's been in the business enough years to know what he's talking about. Chances are Lloyd Webber knows exactly what he wants at the end of this and it wasn't in any of the 'chosen ones' - the others are there to make it look like a fair contest.

Personally, I liked the twins (bloke did too, and not just because of the obvious) - talented, easy on the eye and very marketable.

Be interesting to see who wins.

The twins were my favourite too, if only for Eurovision as I can't see me going out and buying their albums.

Incidentally, does anyone know the criteria for EUrovision (no not thinking of entering lol)? But does it have to be an unsigned act? Otherwise anyone could enter their famous bands like Take That, Girls Aloud, etc.

Scooch were last year and I think Javine Hylton the year before that. I remember Andy Abrahams entering, or attempting to, though.

Well we used to do well with well known acts such as Sir Cliff and Sandy Shaw, so why not use a well known act? Or even JLS or one of the other acts that have done well on X Factor or Pop Idol.

I've just had a look at the full rules for the last comp and there is no restriction as to established acts. There's no more than six performers allowed in a group and they must be aged sixteen or over.

Then why on earth do we choose random unknowns that nobody really likes that much? I think JLS would be brilliant

We have no chance of winning Eurovision regardless of the song/act representing us with the current voting format. We have no "friends" in Europe so nobody will vote for us. The Eastern Bloc / Baltic States will have this sewn up for the foreseeable under the current system.

I agree with Barney, its far too political now and I doubt we could win with any song or any performer, with or without ALW.

I wonder if he is using another forfat to look for talent for his own productions. Cynical me.

If Jade does win through then there will be shouts of 'it's a plant' as saxy_jag's bloke reckons so I can't wait now to find out.
The twins were ok but with all the crying I would worry that they wouldn't be professional enough.
I suppose we could enter JLS or Rhydian but to be honest, would they want to, I doubt it.
Barney and Rosetta are absolutely right with what they say but I must say Rosetta that it didn't cross my mind that ALW was looking for new talent for his own productions, surely not?LOL

neighbour countries will always vote for neighbour countries. In x factor whole regions voted for the act ,because he came from there.Its only natural.
Treat the contest as a laugh,it is best way.Also it is not the singer as much as it is the song.A vote should be taken on the best song .The uk entries in the past have not been good enough.
