Can anyone advise me as to what product I should buy to proctect my three computers, I currently have a Norton 360 package that expires next week. To renew it will cost me 55-65, is this a good deal or should I look elsehere.

Check out Comodo. It is very similar to the excellent Kaspersky Labs, but it's free! I installed it a couple of weeks ago and I can't believe how efficient it is in all departments. It's completely different to any other AV I've had before and it took a bit of getting used to at the start, but I persevered and it is well worth it.
If you`re getting rid of Norton you need to uninstall it properly.

You need to consider the TYPES of products you need.
1) You need an anti virus product (AVG is a good free one)
2) You need a firewall (ZoneAlarm is a good free one)
3) You need a spyware / malware product, Malwarebytes is a good free one.

You can run more than one spyware product, so as well as Malwarebytes try also Adaware (free) and maybe others.
