When did I conceive?

Hello, ive just found out I am pregnant. My last period was 20/12/08 but it was a weird one, harldy bled at all. Its now the 27/12/08 and I want to know when I could of conceived and how far along I am. Anyone have any idea?

In answer to your question, you may be either approximately 4 or 8 weeks pregnant depending on whether the last period was a proper period. It may have been implantation bleeding.
You will find out at your dating scan for sure but if you've noticed quite a few symptoms and your waist is getting thicker you will probably be nearer 8 weeks. Book in at the midwife and she will be able to advise you further. Or you can buy those Clearblue digital tests which give you an indication of how long ago you conceived. If it said 1-2 weeks you would know it had only just happened.

Congratulations Betty, there are so many of us on Answerbank who are currently pregnant or have recently given birth.

The way pregnancy is worked out, is from the first day of your last period, although generally conception occurs around two weeks later .

Therefore, if the first day of your last period was on 20th December you would be 5 weeks plus 3 days into pregnancy, although the actual age of your Foetus would be around 3 weeks.

Thanks for your answers, Im still a little confused. I just did a digital test which told me im 2-3 weeks so does this mean i concieved 2-3 weeks ago?

Hi Betty, I became a bit obsessional after I fell pregnant and kept doing tests. I actually did another one when I was about 14 weeks pregnant and the tests said I was 3-4 weeks pregnant.

I'm not sure Clear Blue date predictor can be exactly accurate, they can only give you an average idea, or surely they would give the exact number of weeks.

Damn, well how can I find out exactly when It was conceived if Im not sure if I had a period in December or it was implantation bleeding? Also I did a test the day of my missed period this time round and it was negative? Does that mean I am recently pregnant?

youll never find out exactly, unless of course you only had sex once that cycle.
As already said, the first scan will tell you if decembers bleed was implantation or a period.

tell your gp that your unsure of dates and they may get you scan done early
