My profile tells me I have posted 86 answers of which 1 has been removed. Is it beyond the pale to be told which and why? I cannot imagine.

Your answer may well have been totally innocent, but something in the thread has caused it to be removed by the moderators.
It would be a full time job for one person to tell everybody why things have been removed.

Thanks a mil, kind people. I suspect you've got the answer, Em, but I've never done that deliberately. Or even by accident in two different places. Did you perhaps find you'd done it twice in one place by accident? I can imagine I've done that when the site was on a go-slow, and I couldn't see that I'd posted already.
i thought I could refute your hypothesis when that happened to Buenchico. He thought that the first two times he tried to post an answer to another question I posted, he had not succeeded, and then all 3 attempts were posted, but his answer was slightly different every time. I would guess he is the sort of user who knows what he's doing, and was trying to defeat the software's evil plans. Is that it, do you think?
Lottie, how would I see the removed answer in your profile? Would it be asterisked out or something? And would it be signposted in some way, or would I just have to plough through every thread in the file?

When AB went down a couple of nights ago, I wasn't aware that the glitch was affecting the whole site, and tried many times, without success, to post answers. At that time my profile showed 8 answers as having been removed - all (I presume) because they were part of other people's threads that had been removed previously - but on that evening the total swiftly rose to 19. The following day, all the answers I'd tried to post appeared in the various sections - but the number of answers removed still stands at 19! Not exactly an accurate record, is it, so I don't think it's worth worrying about.
I persevered that night because we had a serious, discussion going. At first I thought that I was the only one who had a problem, because looking at the grey box on the right, it was clear that other people were posting successfully, so I tried again and again, Then after all those attempts with nothing happening, I tried to post a question asking if anyone else was having problems - and the question showed as 'banned' in my profile - and it still shows as banned, even though it subsequently appeared. All the attempts at answering questions also appeared the next day, so my posts ended up being duplicated - several times! Mmm .... slightly embarrassing that, but hey ho, never mind. If I have a problem posting again, I won't try so hard. I've been with AB a very long time, but I've never experienced anything quite like that before - and my profile remains as it did on that night with the banned question and the 19 removed answers. As I said, not worth worrying about. :o)
Bless you, naomi. (How do you pronounce your name? If it's only your user name and not your real name, I suppose it's not really relevant, and people prob pronounce it any old how, but if it is your real name, how are you bearing with the nye-OWE-me's and all and all? NAYo-me is a lovely name. I hope you're getting away with it!)
So you CAN end up being duplicated - several times! If you've been with AB a very long time, I must cultivate your acquaintance. You can see from my lurid viridescent monicker that I still need guidance on this so mercurial site.
I genuinely think you merit three stars, but, er, perhaps because I am just so green I haven't long discovered them!

Hello mallam, its nice to meet you.
Err ..... not that I'm vain or anything, but yes, I definitely merit three stars. ;o) Thank you.
Although Im not religious, Religion & Spirituality - a sub-section of Society & Culture - is my main home on AB, so thats where Im usually to be found.
Welcome to AB.
