Somebody has posted here, in the past, to say that they successfully entered the USA, under the Visa Waiver Program, by simply 'forgetting' about their drugs convictions.
However that was before the new ESTA rules came in. It's being suggested, in various forums, that the US authorities now have greater access to information about UK citizens than they used to. As I've explained elsewhere, the passing of data between the UK and the USA is shrouded in secrecy because it comes under 'anti-terrorism' (even though most of the data probably has absolutely nothing to do with terrorism). So nobody knows for sure what the US immigration service know about Brits who are trying to enter their country.
The ESTA rules only came into full effect 22 days ago, so there's been no feedback yet from anyone who's tried to enter the USA illegally since the immigration procedures were tightened up.
